Holy
jazz standards, Batman, Cat Girl sings! Sharyn Wynters, the actress
who played Cat Girl on the original Batman TV series, releases a
relaxing set of standards titled Reflections of Love. The Philadelphia-born
Wynters credits performers like Lambert, Hendrix and Ross, Mose
Allison, Thelonious Monk, Sarah Vaughan, and Betty Carter as her
jazz influences. Her album is standard vocal fare-breathy, moody,
sensual. Performing tunes like "The Man I Love," "You Go to My Head,"
"I See Your Face Before Me," "I've Got It Bad," "They Can't Take
That Away From Me," among other well-known tunes, Wynters assumes
a comfort level with anything she touches. Aided by the equally
soothing Darryl Kennedy, who arranges and plays all the instruments
here, Sharyn Wynters glides with ease and charm. An album best recommended
to fans of easy listening jazz standards, Reflections of Love is
a simple, straight-ahead ride.
